A trekking destination close to Kathmandu, this trek trail wanders through culturally rich villages dominated by Tamang, Sherpa and other communities, encounters ups and downs of trail yet maintaining a low elevation. We begin our short trekking experience in this valley of rich natural, cultural and geographical heritages with a drive to Sundarijal to the north-east corner of Kathmandu valley for the start of our trekking experience after the city tour of architectural and cultural heritages in Kathmandu. The trail, beginning from the west of Sundarijal, climbs along the stone steps onto the Shivapuri ridges while continuing uphill and through the Shivapuri National Park before reaching the settlement in Chisopani. Moving forward along the trail of Helambu Trek, we pass through the Kutumsang, Thadepati and Tarkeghyang villages. We take on the footpath through Sermathang village before we reach the Melamchi Pul Bazzar in the Helambu region. Intermittently, we shall witness marvelous views of snowcapped peaks such as Jugal Himal, Gauri Shankar, Gosaikunda, Numbur Peak besides the dominating Langtang Lirung Peak, rural settlements, traditional lifestyle and culture of Tamang community, and grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild premolars. From there we drive back to Kathmandu to mark the end of our trip.
