Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking provides you with one of the most beautiful beginning you can ever experience and so is the ending of the trail. The trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill starts after taking an hour of drive from Pokhara passing through Modi Khola. Trek goes from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani, Poon hill, then to Tadapani and Ghandruk or Jhinu then back to Pokhara. Trekking along the favorable and low elevation landscape, trekkers pass through dense forest and vegetation adorned by rhododendron, orchids and magnolia and inhabited by White-breasted kingfisher, Highland Butterfly and other animals. We pass through the settlements such as Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, Nayathati and Banthati before we reach to Ghorepani, the ancient stoppage for the traders en route to Tibet where they fed their horses with water giving the name Ghorepani to this place. Futher on our trek shall ascend through ethnic villages enjoying the views of Machhapuchare between the hills where we will walk through woods before reaching Ghorepani hill.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most favored destinations for a family trip mainly because of its easiness, since it does not involve high climbing. Itinerary Overview

Day 01: Arrival at TIA Kathmandu (1350m) & Transfer to the Hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara (800m) by tourists Bus/Air

Day 03: Pokhara to Nayapool (1100m) by car and then trek to Tikhedhunga. 1550m (3/4 hrs)

Day 04: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. 2780m (5/6 hrs)

Day 05: Hiking to Poonhill for sunrise (3210m) and trek to Tadapani, 2710m (5/6 hrs)

Day 06: Tadapani (2710m) to Ghandruk (lunch), trek  to Nayapool (1100m) than Nayapool (1100m) to Pokhara by car and rest day.

Day 07: Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourists Bus/Air.

Day 08: Final Departure.


Day 01: Arrival at TIA Kathmandu (1350m) & Transfer to the Hotel.

We humbly welcome you to the mystical nation of Nepal. As your flight lands in the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), a representative of Adventure Master Treks & Expedition shall be waiting for you at the airport terminal to welcome you. Afterward you shall get transferred to your respective hotel room and take some rest for a while. Later you may go outside and roam around the Thamel area. Enjoy the delicious Nepali cuisine in the hotel and warm hospitality of the hotel staffs. Stay overnight at Kathmandu. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara (800m) by tourists Bus/Air

Wake up! Have your breakfast and after that we shall take a drive forward to the picturesque city of Pokhara which is also known as the “City of Lakes”. Initially we shall get away from the bustling Kathmandu valley and head onward to north-west direction. During the drive we shall pass along the curvy roads alongside the hammering Trishuli River. Slowly and steadily, our drive shall take us nearer and nearer to the magnificent Annapurna range of the Himalayas. With the views of Himalayan Mountain getting taller in the distance, we drive past the green and gray hills with intermittent glimpses of Himalayas in the backdrop of blue sky. Later after driving for about 5-6 hours, you shall reach the iconic tourist destination of Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, you sure can feel the authentic greetings from welcoming local people along with the sight of captivating peaks. You shall get transferred to a hotel where you can take rest for the remaining time period. Stay overnight at Pokhara.

Day 03: Pokhara to Nayapool (1100m) by car and then trek to Tikhedhunga. 1550m (3/4 hrs)

The genuine and legitimate Ghorepani Poonhill Trek starts from today. After waking up in your hotel room, we shall have our breakfast and afterward leave Pokhara city. In the beginning of our trek today, we shall take a drive to lively destination of Nayapool which is only 42 km away from Pokhara. Upon reaching Nayapool, we shall start walking and initially start passing all the way through the naturally prosperous village of Lumle during our front trails ahead. As we manage to soak in the aromatic feeling of natural sights, we shall explore this vast region while moving further ahead to Tikhedhunga. After some moments, we shall trek down to the river to cross a suspension bridge, after which we face an ascent with rocky stiars all the way to the ridge of the hill. Following a trail alongside the stunning Modi Khola, we shall at first the village of Birethanti after walking for approximately 20 minutes. Moving further along the trail, we shall now walk amongst the forests beautifully covered with bamboo and water springs. Later on we shall reach our final point of this day by gradually climbing to the Tikhedhunga village. Stay overnight at Tikhedhunga.

Day 04: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. 2780m (5/6 hrs)

Today a lengthy and challenging trek waits for us. So we wake up and later on move ahead with our trek after finishing our breakfast. At first as we move ahead, we shall cross a suspension bridge above the Bhurungdi River in order to get in a trail to reach the local village of Ulleri which is in particular is inhabited by Magar communities. Climbing up the rocky trails, we go past the rhododendron forests filled with green meadows, water streams and cultivated fields Trekkers with a keen sense of their surrounding may see the beautiful wildlife flourishing around them as they carry onward with their trek. Animals and birds who are native to this land may welcome you with various kinds of noises and sights so it’s good to be wary of your surroundings here as you never know what you may see or hear. Trekking along the river and others cultivated areas we shall initially go past the village community of Nangethanti to ultimately reach our final destination, Ghorepani which is situated at an altitude of 2,780 meters above sea level. Upon reaching here trekkers can get the eye-catching views of magnificent Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Hiunchuli and others. Stay overnight at Ghorepani. 

Day 05: Hiking to Poonhill for sunrise (3210m) and trek to Tadapani, 2710m (5/6 hrs)

Get ready; get hyped up as today marks the day when you reach the highlighted point of our entire trek. We shall wake up early and then take a short hike to the viewpoint of Poonhill to watch the spectacular sunrise from the hilltop. The views granted from this spot is considered one of the best given views in all of Annapurna region. Trekkers who make it to the top early can witness the majestic Himalayan Mountains getting shimmered with the rays of sunlight with each passing moment. The snow covered mountains seem to stand beautifully as they get shined upon with the morning sunshine. This view can be the most memorable part of our entire trek.  From the high mountains like Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Mt Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Machapuchare (6,997m), to the peaks like Dhampus Peak (6,021m), Tukuche Peak (6,920m) along with others make the 45 minute hike to the top of Poonhill worth it. Capturing the moment, we shall later start descending down for a lunch. After that we are going to continue on with our trek to reach the village of Tadapani before dawn. Navigating from end to end along the multicolored forest filled with blooming rhododendrons. Following the trail along the ridge all the way through the forest, we shall arrive at a place called Deurali and later on reach the village of Tadapani after descending from there. Stay overnight at Tadapani.

Day 06: Tadapani (2710m) to Ghandruk (lunch) , trek to Nayapool (1100m)and drive to Pokhara

After waking up and having our breakfast at the usual time, we shall now commence further ahead to continue our trek to the gorgeous Annapurna region. In the beginning of our trek today, we shall go through some precipitous trails and exceed all the way through the gorgeous rhododendron forests. The sights and sceneries are sure to make your walk a lot easier as you head onward to your next destination. Giving it a bonus is the blossoming cherries which enrich the trail as we move further on so to arrive at the village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk is considered as the second biggest Gurung settlement in Nepal which provides an additional insight into the daily way of life by which these local communities manage to stay alive here. Here we shall have a stop for lunch and gain outstanding views of the mountains such as Machapuchare, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South. After finishing our lunch and taking a last look at the village, we shall now descent further down along the stone steps to reach Birethanti and ultimately we shall move through villages and cultivated lands to arrive at Nayapool which shall be our final destination for the day. We will drive to Pokhara, Overnight in Pokhara. 

Day 08: Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourists Bus/Air.

Today we shall wake up and have our breakfast. Afterward we shall take a drive back to the medieval city of Kathmandu valley. Driving past the same route followed by our first drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu, we trace our journey back to Kathmandu. Sights of local communities along the route, waterfalls and local markets we shall reach Kathmandu after our drive from Pokhara. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you shall be escorted to you hotel rooms and later in the evening go out for some souvenir shopping as tomorrow you shall leave Nepal. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 09: Final Departure.

A trip to the region of mythical and dramatic contrasts comes to an end today. Therefore today a representative of Adventure Master Treks & Expedition shall transfer you to the airport 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight back home. We hope that the memories of our short yet marvelous trek always hold a special place for you and also hope for your revisit in this enchanting nation again. Lastly we shall bid you farewell and hope you have a safe flight back home.
