Ganesh Himal Trek also known as the “Hidden Valleys” of the Himalayas, is located on the high valleys of the Northern Tibetan border. Ganesh Himal 7110m/23326ft trekking is one of the finest trekking where you get to view the awesome views of the Ganesh Himal I, II, III, and IV which are situated in central Nepal and also one of the less touristic areas. The Ganesh is simply known as the son of lords Shiva and Parvati. It is one of the sacred mountains. Trekking in Ganesh Himal region offers a superb opportunity to enjoy magnificent mountains and to discover rich flora.

The Ganesh Himal (7406m), named for the serpentine southern ridge that evokes the elephant-headed Hindu god of good fortune. After driving from Kathmandu to Pairo Bensi, we will begin our trek and pass through Satdobato village to reach Kispang the next day. This area is one of the isolated and secluded areas. All the way through the pristine forest, lake passing the Singla Bhanjyang4, 750meter to reach at Phedi3, 545m at here we set our temporary campsite. This trekking is picture-perfect in the spring season for the vista of flora around 526 categories of plants and 40 types of Orchids. Ahead we will be ephemeral through some of the interesting places such as Singala pass, Pangsang Bhanjyang, Jaisal Kunda, Jyamrung. We cross through high Shing La Pass and Pangsang La Pass which offers an excellent view of the massif Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Annapurna. One can witness the panoramic views of mountains and hills covered in greens that are all covered by rich and diverse floral and faunal species. There are valleys which are set ablaze by yellow blossoms of double Jasmine, the forest dense with Spanish oak, blue pine, and in spring time blossoming of the rhododendron set whole forest alight in spectacular arrays of color. Maximum societies residing in this region are mostly Buddhists with their exceptional languages, customs, outfits and values. The trekking route passes through quite Tamang villages, hot spas, gorges and glaciers with a view of Ganesh Himal V & II, Langtang Li Rung and Paldo etc. And so as our trek comes to an end we then approach Syabrubesi from where we will drive back to Kathmandu. On the last day of the trip we take a bus ride back to Kathmandu from Pairo Bensi where we spend the final night of our trip.

During our 12 day Ganesh Himal Trek, we observe the different ways of life, culture and come in contact with the rural people in the small village, passing through the dense forestations and meadows. Generally all seasons are good enough to trek here but the views are clearest from fall. Itinerary

Day 01:Kathmandu drive to Pairo Bensi

Let’s begin our adventure for our iconic trek to the Ganesh Himal region of Nepal. After having your breakfast, you along with your other trekking members shall be escorted to a private vehicle for a drive to western area of Pairo Bensi. Occasionally, after driving for about 6 hours away from the bustling routes of the capital city, you are bound to arrive at the village of Pairo Bensi which can be translated to “Landslide Base” in English. Pairo Bensi is a small village situated at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level next to Trishuli River. This can be a memorable moment as it shall be your first night away from the pollution of city area under the stars next to the river bank. Stay overnight at Pairo Bensi.

Day 02:Pairo Bensi trek to Kispang

Good morning! Wake up and get ready for the initial beginning of our trekking phase towards Kispang village. Generally today it shall be a steep climb up for about 5-6 hrs and along the entire way we shall pass through several small villages. It is a small village for Tamang people. Initially we shall have an uphill walk for about 3 hours to the village called Satdobato and then have a gradual uphill walk for another 2 hours to our camping site of Kispang village which is a local community village consisting large amounts of Tamang people. The major highlight of this day is that you shall enjoy traversing past through villages of mixed ethnic groups living together and enjoy the stunning rural scenery available there. Stay overnight at Kispang.

Day 03:Kispang- Gonga

After waking up and having our breakfast, we shall continue moving forward to our next destination of Gonga village. Our journey from here onward shall lead us with a hard starter of a 3 hour gradient ascent. Later we get to a phase of our uphill journey where we are welcomed by the blooming rhododendrons which are also known as the national flower of Nepal. Going through the rhododendron forest, we shall witness some wild animals which are locally found here. The scenery gets a lot better as we get closer to our final destination. Ultimately we arrive at the village of Gonga after trekking uphill for about 6 hours. As this place is situated at an elevation of 2,600m above sea level trekkers can also witness glorious views of Langtang Lirung and Gosainkunda Mountain ranges from this place. Stay overnight at Gonga.

Day 04:Gonga- Rupchet

Have your breakfast and then we shall march ahead to continue our trek. Today shall be another uphill climb up through the forests filled with rhododendrons. The local flora and fauna experience as well as surrounding landscape will surely make this another amazing day of our 12 day trek. We shall pass through the dense Himalayan jungle; we reach the village of Rupchet after trekking for about 5 hours. Rupchet is a place where trekkers are bound to get some amazing sceneries of the local surrounding with the stunning views of the Langtang mountain range. It is positioned at an elevation of 3,850 meters above sea level and as a result this place offers some amazing mother goddess blessing hillside views and its periphery views. Stay overnight at Rupchet.

Day 05:Rest day in Rupchet for acclimatize

As planned this day is marked as a day for acclimatization and resting purposes. Just so you know we are trekking at high altitudes and it is very important for bodies to get well adjusted to these kinds of surrounding environment. Without proper acclimatization, trekkers can experience several health problems which can in turn affect their chances of completing the trek entirely. Hence, it is highly recommended to spend a day at least, in Rupchet to allow our bodies to adjust/acclimatize. But it doesn’t mean that we need to stay indoors all day and do nothing. Rather we should go out and have some exploration around this vicinity of our camp. Stay overnight at Rupchet.

Day 06:Rupchet-Highlander pass - Larkap

Having the best almost 270 degrees panoramic mountain views of Langtang ranges, massif Ganesh Himal ranges, Mt. Manaslu ranges and little bit of Annapurna ranges, we shall wake up and enjoy our breakfast in this stunning place of magnificent beauty. As soon as we finish our breakfast we shall trek onward to our next destination called Larkap. This day is one of the most significant day in terms of spectacular mountain views mainly because we have to pass through Highlander Pass, from where we can see peaks over 8,000 meters. So it will be nice to keep your camera’s along with you if you like to capture the amazing views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna range, Fishtail, Langtang range, Gosainkunda range, Tibetan range which we are sure to see while we trek further to Larkap. After the pass you shall have a downhill trek for about one hour to Larkap. Stay overnight at Larkap.

Day 07:Larkap- Pangsang la - Somdang

So we have reached day 07 of our amazing trek today so as we wake up with sun shimmering above the clouds we shall have our breakfast. Afterward we shall march away from Larkap to reach the Pangsang La Pass which is a viewpoint southwest of Somdang with a broad panorama of the surrounding terrain. Situated at an elevated height of 3,842 meters above sea level, this place offers incredible views of the soaring peaks of Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal Range to the north. Throughout the entire day we shall pass through numerous forests filled with Rhododendron, Pine and other vegetations. Finally in the evening, after walking for more than 5 hours we shall arrive at our final destination of Somdang (3,271 meters) which is a small Tamang Village. Stay overnight at Somdang.

Day 08:Somdang trek to Gatlang

From this point onward, you shall now begin descending further down to our next destination of Gatlang village. After having our breakfast, we shall continue on with our trek and initially trek upon a level trail. Then after you shall head uphill through Khurpe Banjyang saddle (3,600m) and from here it shall be a downhill trail to our final destination of Gatlang which is situated above 2,337 meters above sea level. After trekking for about 6 hours, you shall reach Gatlang with unique customs and craftsmanship in a magnificent setting. There also lies a small holy lake which is a popular pilgrim place for pilgrimage every year and attracts many people. Stay overnight at Gatlang.

Day 09:Gatlang- Sano Haku

Wake up and have your breakfast as you enjoy the stunning views. Afterward we shall start trekking all the way down to Shertung gaon by passing through high tropical jungle, rhododendron forest, and pine forest, oak, Himalayan bamboo. As you descent below, you can get some surprising wildlife experience of cow, sheep and goat huts. Later we shall arrive at our final destination of Sano Haku with a gradual downhill, which is situated at 2,300 meters elevation and from this place trekkers can get incredible Mountain vistas. Stay overnight at Sano Haku.

Day 10:Sano Haku- Mailung

After having our breakfast trek at the usual time, we shall proceed further down to Mailung which is positioned at an elevated height of 1,200m above sea level. In the beginning of our trek, we shall continue going downhill and pass through thick forest. Later on we shall emerge out of the forest; we shall arrive at our final destination of Mailung village which is a larger village than Chipleti with a few lodges at the river bank. Upon reaching there you can get in touch with the neighboring Tamang communities and learn about their typical life style and traditions. Stay overnight at Mailung.

Day 11:Mailug- Pairobensi

It is day 11 and we shall traverse back to Pairo Bensi, the place where we began our trek. After waking up and having our breakfast we shall follow the Trishuli River. And later we will arrive at the village of Pairo Bensi after walking for about 4 hours from Mailung. Pairo Bensi will be our final point of our trek so we shall check into a lodge/tea house and stay overnight there. Stay overnight at Pairo Bensi.

Day 12:Pairobensi- Kathmandu

This day marks the end of our overwhelming 12 day Ganesh Himal Trek. We shall bid farewell to the stunning mountains of the Ganesh Himal region and drive back to the medieval city of Kathmandu. After driving for about 6 hours through the roads surrounded by lush green hills covered with dense forest, we arrive at Kathmandu. Upon reaching there, a representative of Adventure Master Treks & Expedition shall escort you to your designated hotel rooms where you can take showers and get refreshed. After which you can go out for some souvenir shopping around the Thamel area as you have your scheduled flight back to your home tomorrow. Later return back to your hotel room and enjoy the authentic Nepalese cuisine dinner. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.
